If you look at the floor, you can see Yellow, Blue, and White triangles on the floor, arranged in an emblem.
I’m sure some of you have heard about the theory that the gems on the wall of the temple in the strawberry field were Rose Quartz, and the unknown gem fighting her was Yellow Diamond. Next to Rose and Yellow, there were two other unidentified gems that were white and blue, with their gems in the same shape as the Yellow Diamond. These gems have been assumed to be Blue Diamond and White Diamond.
I’m not going to go in-depth as to what these murals mean, because that’s not the point of this.
My point is that the colors and shapes of the diamonds on the floor of Peridot’s ship line up exactly with the gem fighting against Rose, and the other gems near it.
Now think back to “Keep Beach City Weird”, when Ronaldo began rambling about his new theory after the gems rescued Steven from him.
His words were, (paraphrased, of course) “Polymorphic sentient rocks! They’re here to hollow out the Earth! It’s all the plan of the Great Diamond Authority! You can read about it on my blog!”
Now Ronaldo hit the nail on the head with the statement about polymorphic sentient rocks (the gems) coming to hollow out the Earth (the Kindergartens). But when he says “Diamond Authority, it doesn’t sound like he’s referring to a single organization, but multiple.
All this, combined with the blue, yellow, and white diamonds on Peridot’s ship, all but outright states that there are multiple Diamond organizations that are interconnected to form a Diamond Authority.
Now, we all know that Rose Quartz was a powerful and influential person in gem society, but it’s never hinted as to what. The only thing we know about her is that she saw what the Kindergarten was doing to Earth, and she rebelled against Homeworld to stop it.
What some people have proposed is that Rose was the fourth piece of the Diamond Authority: Pink/Red Diamond.
(You might be thinking that Rose’s gem isn’t a diamond, but it makes sense if you look at an irl pink diamond compared to irl rose quartz and compare them to Rose’s gem)
I think that Pink Diamond was in charge of the Kindergarten program, or at least the branch on Earth. Before Earth, they had only put Kindergartens on unpopulated planets, so she had no idea how it would affect the life on Earth.
When she found out that the Kindergarten was ruining Earth’s ecosystem, she rallied all of the gems in the Pink Diamond squadron. From what Pearl, Garnet, and Amethyst have said about her, the gems respected her enough to follow her.
She changed her name from Pink Diamond, a rare and valued gem, to Rose Quartz, a common mineral as a sign of rebellion and humility.
After the war for Earth, the Homeworld gems were all but destroyed, and Rose’s army was reduced to her, Pearl, Garnet, and Amethyst.
Homeworld erased the Pink Diamond branch from their government.
…Which brings us to the events of Steven Universe. When Jasper arrived on Earth with Peridot, she called Steven Rose Quartz instead of Pink Diamond. Why would that be? Jasper isn’t respectful enough to call Rose by her preferred name, so the only real explanation is that Jasper was created in the Kindergarten.
The only Kindergarten-born gem that we’ve seen so far is Amethyst, a type of quartz. Jasper is also a type of quartz.
What I’m getting at is that for some reason, Earth was only able to produce gems that were variations of Quartz. This is why Rose chose the name to Rose Quartz, out of respect for the Earth.
If Jasper were born in the Earth Kindergarten, she wouldn’t have known Rose Quartz as Pink Diamond, just Rose Quartz.
She couldn’t have learned about Pink Diamond on Homeworld, because Peridot was visibly surprised when she found the Crystal Gems on Earth. This is because the current Diamond Authority erased all knowledge of Pink Diamond, leaving only the memory of Rose Quartz in the minds of the few that survived the war against her.
Like Jasper.
I would prefer to be skeptical of Rose Is Pink Diamond theories but in all honesty, the further we get into the show, the more likely it’s becoming. I mean, even the show itself is beginning to hint at the idea that Rose is more than meets the eye.
For a little fun time, let’s look at Jasper and Peridot, who both report to Yellow Diamond, as stated in the show.
Pretty obvious, right?
Yeah, okay, I’d probably get a symbol of my army division on my uniform too. That makes sense. That’s how identification works, right? That’s gotta be a decision to show their rank/duty in relation to homeworld. Yellow diamonds for… uh… yellow diamond.
The Crystal Gems don’t have that. Well, they have a star now, to represent, we presume, Steven and Rose (they didn’t have this on their clothes before Steven arrived, though, so it’s probably a tribute to Rose’s passing and Steven’s place in their hearts.) We have nothing to link them to their old ranks, right? No way of knowing who they reported to.
Except wait.
Pearl changed clothing once - into something that very much resembled a homeworld space-suit! Like she would have worn before adapting a more earthly look! What if that spacesuit had some indication of her historical Diamond association?
Hmmmm……
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.
Pink, huh.
Who else do we know that deals primarily in pink?
Who else was Pearl bowing to, as she decided to stay on earth and fight homeworld?
The “Quartz being produced on Earth as the sole kind of gem from the planet” is pretty plausible imo, due to a fun fact I know about quartz. You can find it very commonly on beaches… Perhaps even Beach City ;)
